On the last weekend in July 2023 Worthing Lions organised and held the Worthing Lions Summer festival taking over the promenade and Steyne Gardens.

Saturday was a marvellous day with the rain sparing the festival, Sunday was very different as it was very wet and windy day. Most traders and all the charity market left early whilst the traders who had stalls that could cope with the weather conditions stayed.

There were markets stretching along the promenade, entertainment on the promenade and Steyne Gardens with fireworks from the pier, classic cars and American cars in Steyne Gardens with buses on the seafront not forgetting Stevens fun fair near the pier.

At the Worthing Lions gazebos there were stalls for tombola, hook a bag and a handmade card sale.

Alongside there was an entertainment gazebo, where Punch & Judy, Magician, Singers and Dancers entertained those on the promenade throughout both days.

The Worthing Lions tombola was one of their most successful with many winners, despite the wet and windy Sunday conditions. All the proceeds of £2,500 from the tombola goes to the nominated charity , who help families and children with grief journeys. The prizes for the tombola were generously donated by many local businesses.

The hook a bag always popular with children, and young at heart was a sell out with all children going away with a bag of toys.

Worthing Lions were helped to put on the festival by their 2023 sponsors and supporters without who they would struggle to bring the festival and fireworks:

Worthing Lions and their sponsor Yeomans cars provided a big fireworks display from the pier, which thousands watched from the beach and promenade in Worthing. Alfie, the son of Steve a Yeomans showroom host had the great honour of setting off the fireworks. This is the biggest cost item of the festival.

On Saturday classic cars took over Steyne Gardens with over 150 cars from a several decades, scooters and BSA bantams were also displayed.

On Sunday, American cars took over Steyne Gardens organised by Sunny Sunday Revival American & Custom car show.

On Sunday the seafront the buses took over organised by Worthing Bus Rally.
