December 2023, this is traditionally a very busy month for Worthing Lions and 2023 was no exception, with the Street Collections and Santa's Grotto raising a total of over £10,000, which Worthing Lions will distribute in 2024.

Santa's Grotto

Worthing Lions on two of the December Saturdays before Christmas, a third Saturday was cancelled due to the weather, hosted Santa Claus and his grotto in the South Street Square Worthing.

Over 700 children visited Santa for no charge and received a bag of gifts from Santa's helpers. Worthing Lions thank our sponsors, Paladone, and Covermount Solutions Ltd who gave gifts that allowed Worthing Lions to provide the Santa gift bags.

The Worthing Lion was spotted in the square providing children with more wonder at this special time of year wearing a stunning blue waistcoat

Storm dancers provided a free present wrapping service and dance performances on one of the Saturdays before Christmas. Whist the South Downs Folk Singers sang carols on the last Saturday before Christmas.

A big thank you to all those made a donation to the Worthing Lion's bucket collectors who also assisted Santa. These donations allow Worthing Lions to support local people and organisations.

Street Collections

Worthing Lions on 14 weekday evenings, only one was cancelled due to the weather, before Christmas accompanied Santa Claus who drove around some of the roads of Worthing with the Worthing Lions Christmas themed lighted van accompanied most nights by Reindeer, elves and sometimes Mother Christmas.

Santa with two reindeer were glad to meet many children who came out to meet him, some dressed only in jim jams and many with bare feet braving the cold December nights to take part in the magic of Christmas.

It was amazing the number of people who came out to support the Lions and the charities who partnered with us this year. The below charities and organisation assisted on the evening street collections in December 2023, with each receiving half the evenings collection:
