This year, with the help of the tm active team, the Tonbridge Lions Club re-established their “Senior Citizens” Post Christmas Party.

The event was held at the Angel Centre and over 100 invited guests were entertained by members of the club and their Friends to a mix of songs from the shows, comedy numbers, jazz and monologues.

During the half time interval the guests were served with an “afternoon tea” of sandwiches, cakes and cups of tea or coffee all prepared by club members and their ladies. A tradition was revived with the oldest guest, Edna (also known as Ena) Bolt, being served her tea by the Mayorof Tonbridge & Malling who this year is Tonbridge Lions club member Councillor James Lark.

On this occasion we also acknowledged the contribution made to the club by Lion Richard Rose who recently passed to higher service. In his will he left a considerable donation to the club charity funds some of which has funded the afternoon’s party.

The second half started with a “silly” game of “heads and shoulders” and ended with community singing led by the Lions and members of the Musical Memories choir.

Lion Neal Charlesworth, chairman of the organising committee, said “It was a pleasure to see so many people enjoying themselves and I am delighted the afternoon went to plan”.
