As always, the time before Christmas was busy for members with bucket collections at three of our supermarkets – Sainsbury, Tesco, and Waitrose. The weather was fresh, to say the least, and the best place to be was in the Santa suit. Santa Claus was dolling out sweets to the children and finding out what they wanted him to bring down the chimney.

In addition, Santa spent a couple of evenings touring local residential areas on his recently renovated sleigh and in total our various collections brought in £3,200, our best ever result.

After an Afternoon Tea Party for some of the town’s elder residents in early February, the Club’s next major event is the Guildford Lions Classic Car Display on Sunday 7th April 2024, when we will have 70 classics parked up in the High Street. The entry list is nearly full with an eclectic variety of cars and many others from around the world, the eldest being a 1922 Trojan. We should also have two Le Mans winning replica cars and a car that competed on the longest car rally ever held
