The Members of Tonbridge Lions Club are deeply saddened to report the passing to higher Service of Lion Richard Rose on Saturday 8th July 2023.

Lion Richard joined Tonbridge Lions in November 1975 and held many roles in the Club over the 47 years he was a member.  He was President in 1989, and was always an enthusiastic and active member and so very proud to be a Lion.

He and his wife Joan enjoyed the many fund raising and service activities together with the social aspects of the Club.

In particular he was involved with setting up the Kent Talking Newspaper in conjunction with the Kent Association for the Blind in the early days and was Chairman of that activity for more than 40 years. They were enthusiastic thespians in the Club’s annual Senior Singles Party. Richard was well known for his slapstick comedy sketches. He was also a very enthusiastic honey bee keeper.

He was very well regarded by everyone in the Club and will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts are with all his children and grandchildren.
