Guildford Lions Firework Fiesta Success Once again Guildford Lions Club’s Firework Fiesta was enjoyed by 8,000 local people. On a dry November evening there was plenty to entertain the audience for over two hours, even before the fireworks started. The Hired Guns, played popular music from world famous bands and singers, whilst children were provided for by the Enchanted Performers including Captain America, Elsa, and LED walkers. There were several bars and numerous food outlets offering a range of British, European, African and Oriental foods – all needs were catered for. Later, local personality, Peter Gordon, did the MC-ing and at 8.30pm counted down the audience for the start of the fireworks which excelled in their colour and spectacular patterning. Everyone went home happy and funds were raised for the Club’s funds, although at the time of writing the sum is uncertain. As always the Club was grateful for the support of Guildford Borough Council and local companies as the event now costs £80,000+ to run. The event has resulted in about £30,000 being added to the Clubs funds and it has already agreed to donate £7,500 to Oakleaf, a local mental health charity. Manage Cookie Preferences
