Woking Lions Club •Woking Lions is a UK registered Charity (CIO NO 1179975) •We meet monthly at Goldsworth park. •Our differentiator is that we are focused on raising funds primarily to support those in need locally in Woking & the immediately surrounding areas. •We are part of a Lions International global organisation, formed in 1917. Globally we have 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries https://www.lionsclubs.org/en •We work with a number of Woking social services, local agencies and charities to help as many people as possible in our community. •All profits we make are distributed locally via our Welfare Committee comprising a small group of members. •It is not all work as we like to play as well. Two powerful earthquakes have struck Turkey and Syria The first earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude hit south-eastern Turkey, near the Syrian border and the second one struck four kilometres outside Ekinozu in central Turkey. Over 11,000 people have died so far in Turkey and Syria, and more than 35,000 people have been injured and displaced. Major buildings have collapsed and the numbers are expected to rise as the search for survivors continues in both countries.
